Firm Profile
Overview • Design Philosophy • Energy Efficiency • IAQ • Durability • Sustainability
We strive to build healthy homes that have good indoor air quality (IAQ). Building a tighter, more energy efficient home brings with it an even greater need to address the interrelated factors that affect indoor air quality.
Exterior Envelope Water Control
Keeping water out is a prerequisite for a healthy home. Many of the elements
we use to increase the durability of our homes also help keep our homes healthy,
such as drainage planes and air barriers.
Source Control
In addition to providing exhaust fans in all bathing areas to remove
moisture laden air, we vent our kitchen exhaust fans to the exterior
to ensure that cooking odors, moisture, and pollutants are not
recirculated into the home.
Combustion
By-Products Control
Conventional fuel-burning appliances produce combustion
by-products, including carbon monoxide, that under certain conditions
of negative pressure could be pulled back from their chimney into a
home. All of our gas-fired furnaces and water heaters are
direct-vent sealed-combustion units, that are designed to avoid this
problem of backdrafting.
